Picosecond laser working principle
Laser uses the “selective photothermolysis principle” (light explosion principle), The shorter the laser action time, the less likely it is for the laser energy absorbed and accumulated in the target tissue to spread to the surrounding tissue, and the energy is limited to the extent required. Within the target of treatment, the surrounding normal tissue is protected, so the treatment is more selective.
Under the ultra-short pulse width of the Picosecond laser, the laser energy has no time to be converted into heat energy, and almost no photothermal effect is produced. However, after being absorbed by the target, its volume expands rapidly, causing a mechanical effect and being blasted into pieces. The selectivity is even higher. So it can produce a stronger curative effect in shorter treatment times for pigmented skin lesions.
